LATINA participants need to be able to
- create and edit basic spreadsheets
- create and edit simple charts (graphs, diagrams) from such spreadsheets
Many LATINA participants use the spreadsheets included in Google Docs, since this program is free of charge and available online in most countries. But the functions needed are also available on other platforms, such as (Apache) Open Office/LibreOffice Calc and Microsoft Excel.
There are many web sites that provide introductions to spreadsheets and diagrams. Here we use Google Sheets as an example.
- This tutorial shows you how to get started with Google Drive and Google Docs (7 brief videos), how to set up Google spreadsheets (4 videos), and how to undertake some basic spreadsheet tasks (5 videos).
- Google's help pages tell you how to create and edit charts
If you have limited experience with spreadsheets, it is a good idea to watch the tutorial videos before you tackle the exercises and quizzes in this lesson. You may also consult the videos and the help pages while you do your practice.
